The bathrooms, which include toilets, are shared but very clean and well-maintained. They provide towels, toothbrushes, and other amenities for guests, making it convenient. The guest rooms have comfortable Nishikawa mattresses, ensuring a good night's sleep. They also come with a safety deposit box, hangers, and reading lights for added convenience. The double room has a perfect blend of Western-style beds and a cozy tatami seating area, giving it a unique and comfortable ambiance. The air-conditioned rooms come with free WiFi, providing easy connectivity for guests like us who rely on the internet for various purposes.
Personally, I prefer having private bathrooms instead of shared ones. But I understand that some guests might still find it enjoyable to socialize and interact with others in this setting.

Wonderful stay with a great atmosphere. The minimalistic design and artistic touches throughout the hostel create a charming and inspiring vibe. The dorm room was spacious yet cozy, and the wash area was always clean and well-equipped. The communal living room was a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the lovely music. Highly recommended for eco-conscious and detail-oriented travelers.

This hostel had a great vibe, very zen and relaxed. The whole staff was adorable and made me feel at home. The rooms were comfortable and the overall design of the house made it very peaceful and easy to relax after a long day. The homemade breakfast curry was to die for! The neighborhood was adorable and very calm, and the hostel was close to the metro line, bus stops, and the main station. It was also walking distance to the famous sights in the city.
Minor issue, the lights in the dorm room were controlled by the staff, so I had to ask them to turn it off if I wanted to sleep early. , the room was quite hot at night, not enough air flow.

The sound-proofing in the common area could be improved.

The interior and exterior of the hostel were beautifully designed. The location was perfect, just a short walk from Kyoto station, making it convenient for day trips. The hostel had a beautiful atmosphere, with a lovely scent of wood throughout. The traditional Japanese architecture and garden were a pleasant surprise. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, and I especially appreciated the comfortable mattress and free amenities like sleeping mask, slippers, and earplugs. The location was convenient, with a 24-hour McDonald's nearby and a lively street vendor izakaya just a short walk away. And the best part was being able to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and watch the sunset by the riverfront, with the illuminated city skyline in view.
One minor issue was that it was a bit confusing to find my bed, it would have been helpful to have a map of the bedroom layouts. the top bunk was a little difficult to access after a long day of walking, and the room temperature was a bit warm at night.

The decoration of the hostel was absolutely lovely, with a touch of elegance and simplicity that I appreciate as a senior woman. The general areas were well-maintained and had a calming atmosphere, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring Kyoto. Additionally, the hostel was easily accessible for senior people, with no steep stairs or long distances to walk.
I would have asked for more assistance from the children working there.

I chose this hotel for attending a meeting because it provides a comfortable and convenient stay. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, creating a peaceful atmosphere. The staff was helpful and offered valuable local recommendations. The hostel's proximity to the metro line and the main Kyoto station made commuting easy. Complimentary water bottles, bathroom essentials, and suitcase locks added to the convenience of my stay.
One service I missed for my work was a dedicated workspace or a business center within the hostel.

The value for money at Utsuwa Designed was excellent, with comfortable rooms and a peaceful atmosphere. The staff treated me with kindness and were always ready to help. The location was convenient, close to public transportation and within walking distance of popular attractions.
The only thing that could make the breakfast better would be a wider variety of items.

The beautifully designed building with a bar, lounge area, and zen garden was a fantastic amenity. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome and taken care of. The capsules of different sizes provided a comfortable sleeping experience, even in the smallest standard bed. The cord and lock provided for bags gave us peace of mind, and the passcode entry instead of keys added convenience. The provided bedding and towels were a nice touch, and the location in a quiet residential neighborhood was ideal for exploring Kyoto.
Felt like it was our own home, no complaints at all.
